For
those of you who know me this post will come as no surprise. I am stubborn;
very stubborn. I get an idea in my head and I have a hard time letting go of
it. I know this. But if someone can convince me that I am wrong I can also
admit when I have made a mistake. I do admire someone that is clear and speaks the truth even if it is not an easy thing to say. Just, do not expect me to accept it lightly. I
am definitely going to look for an angle or a way around it, but that does not mean that I disagree or do not respect what I am being told.
I
am submissive and I will almost always do as I am ordered. I have even been
jokingly referred to as "the girl that can't say no" like the girl
from "Oklahoma!" But I will follow an order to the letter of the law.
If there is an angle I will be the first one to find it and exploit it.
A
good friend and English teacher told me I should not write in present tense
because I have no experience (he is so very write. I have so little knowledge I did not even know about this fact). I told him too late I have already written in
present tense. If he had told me the story was bad or poorly written I would
have had a much harder time arguing with him. He also told me I cannot write
the first chapter in past tense and the remainder of the story in present
tense. Apparently, it is a rule that you must follow. When I pointed out sassily
that rules were made to be broken he informed me that there is no breaking this
one. It just cannot be done. But what do I know. I was never good at English
Grammar or Literature in school. In fact, I did not even pass my O levels (yes,
I know that gives away my age). If I am told there is something wrong with my
story I have no way to argue that. I cannot claim to know what I am doing here
other than allowing my imagination to spill itself into text.
If
you have noticed some changes to the headings you are right. I have another
good friend who does know a thing or two about writting. She told me where to find my angle. I just
gotta love her for that. So for those of you who have been reading along: Chapter
one is now the Prologue and in past tense; Ayden's old life in the old world. And
Chapter 2 became the new Chapter 1 (and so on) in present tense. So I guess
there was a way to break that rule. Not to say that I still will not have to
rewrite the story, maybe the whole thing, but for now I have found an angle.
So, if you are lost and do not know what you are reading there is a chance you
are reading the wrong chapter and need to go back and read one chapter earlier
than where you were before.
Sorry
if there is any confusion.
Thanks
T and B :) Love you two
